About BI Blog

Welcome to the Beck Institute Blog. This blog is written by the staff of Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. People call us all the time looking for information about Cognitive Behavior Therapy, or CBT, with specific questions about what it can treat. So we thought we’d set up this blog as a resource for everyone — for professionals, students and the general public. We’ll talk about what’s happening globally with CBT research studies and training programs, everything from new books to CBT in the news. We’d also like this blog to answer your questions about what CBT is and how it works, and to provide a place where people who’ve experienced the benefit of CBT can share their stories.

We’d also like to let you know what’s happening here at the Beck Institute throughout the year. From time to time, Aaron T. Beck, M.D., and Judith S. Beck, Ph.D., will be contributing directly with their own insights and comments. Aaron T. Beck, M.D. is President Emeritus of Beck Institute, and University Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania. He developed Cognitive Therapy in the early 1960s. Judith S. Beck, Ph.D. is President of Beck Institute, and Clinical Associate Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania.

We hope that you will find this site useful — and if you have thoughts about how we can improve the blog, or if there are CBT-related topics you’d like to see covered here, please let us know (you can write to us at communications@beckinstitute.org). Although we may not be able to incorporate every suggestion, we do hope to make this blog a useful source of CBT information, and your feedback will help us to know how we’re doing.

CBT Treatment Stories

Also, if you have benefited from receiving CBT treatment and would like to tell others about your experience by having your treatment story posted on this website, please write to us at communications@beckinstitute.org, with the subject line “Treatment Story.”

Others may benefit from hearing about what you have experienced, and how CBT treatment has helped. We’re looking for treatment stories of any length — short or long. We will contact you within two to four weeks to let you know if we’d like to post your story, and to verify how you would like your name or initials to appear. We hope you’ll consider sending your story to the BI blog (communications@beckinstitute.org).
